Why Bristol?

I moved to Bristol in October 2009 to set up as a freelance web designer and front end developer.

Bristol is an exciting city with a vibrant creative industry. I decided to move to Bristol from London for the same reasons as so many other designers and creatives such as better quality of life and less commuting. Bristol is a hip and happening city with a mix of run down industrial warehouses ripe for renovation such as the Paintworks and the buildings lining the canal and modern developments such as Cabot Circus.

Bristol has a lot of historic architecture including a Victorian Folly castle, many Georgian buildings and even some Tudor mansions, all great for inspiration and getting away from work from time to time. Redfield, the area of Bristol where I live and work is mostly made up of small Victorian terraces. with postage stamp yards and narrow paved streets, like most towns and cities I suppose.

Bristol has a number of native celebrities including: Johnny Ball, Banksy, Blackbeard, Lee Evans, Massive Attack, James May, Michael Redgrave and last but not least The Wurzels.

It is clear to see when you walk around Bristol and meet those who live or who have lived in Bristol that they are a happy, creative, forward thinking bunch and that the city has a bright future ahead of it.
